No-one should live in an environment where they live in fear, feel unsafe, or at risk of harm.
We understand that there could be many factors as to why someone would find it difficult to leave the situation they are in.
Many women facing this decision feel fearful of making the decision to ask for help due to feelings of shame, embarrassment or uncertainty about what might happen next. Additionally, other factors may be at play, such as lack of financial independence or experiencing financial abuse, having children, being in a remote location or living with other family members, isolation from family and friends and feeling disempowered or uncertain about what help to ask for.
Some women also report that they're not sure their circumstances call for support from others, and sometimes, it's difficult to even recognise or articulate the issues, it's a strong feeling of lack of safety, horrible gut feeling, or an instinct to make a decision.
When you feel like this, it's important to reach out to someone trusted in your inner circle, a support provider (detailed below) or someone your trust in your workplace or school.
You and every woman experiencing any form of abuse or violence deserves to be supported.
